Privacy Policy

Who we are

RIA Ascent is operated by Ascent Growth Platforms Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the RIA Ascent application at app.riaascent.com. For how firm information is shared inside the product, see How we use your data, which is part of this policy.

What we collect

• Account information: your email address, your name and, if you add it, your LinkedIn profile. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored by us in readable form.
• Your role: the kind of work you do and your answers during onboarding.
• Your firm: the firm you claim or link to, your role there, and what we use to verify it.
• What you enter about your firm: answers to profile questions, corrections to filed figures, and answers to the optional sale and succession questions.
• What you save: saved firms and saved searches.
• Starting a signup: the email address, and the firm or role you arrived for, when you begin creating an account, so we can help you finish.
• Email preferences: whether you have asked for product update emails.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device details, and timestamps, used to run and secure the service. Our hosting providers keep standard access logs, which include IP addresses. The public firm lookup also uses your IP address to limit request rates.

Public regulatory information

Firm and individual information in RIA Ascent comes from public Form ADV and related filings with the SEC and state regulators. We show it as filed and refresh it monthly.

How we use information

• To provide the service: scores, confidence levels, estimates and benchmarks.
• To verify that a person claiming a firm is entitled to.
• Stripped of anything that identifies a firm or a person, to build benchmarks, trends and insights.
• To match firms with vendors, partners and acquirers, as described in How we use your data. Nothing that identifies your firm is shared unless you choose it.
• To send account emails and, if you opt in, product updates.
• To keep the service secure, fix problems, and meet legal obligations.

How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share it only:

• With service providers that process it for us: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (web hosting), Railway (application hosting), Sentry (error monitoring) and Resend (email delivery).
• With other users only as described in How we use your data — for example, a firm's owners see each other's answers.
• When you direct us to.
• When the law requires it, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, under this policy's protections.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies: the ones that keep you signed in, and a short-lived one that remembers the page or firm you were headed to while you sign in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep information while your account is active and as long as we need it to run the service. When you close your account or ask us to delete information, we delete or anonymize it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to appeal if we decline a request. Email hello@riaascent.com and we will respond within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit, stored with providers that encrypt it at rest, and available inside our company only to people who need it to run the service.

Children

RIA Ascent is for professionals and is not directed to anyone under 18.

Changes

We will post changes here with a new effective date, and tell you by email or in the app about any material change.
