Terms of Service

1. The service

RIA Ascent is operated by Ascent Growth Platforms Inc. It provides lookups of registered investment advisers built from public regulatory filings, the RIAAS score, and Firm Portrait valuation estimates, including information firms provide themselves. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms, to our Privacy Policy, and to How we use your data, which are part of these terms.

2. Who can use it

You must be 18 or older. RIA Ascent is for professional and business use by people who own, operate, work at, or work with registered investment advisers.

3. Your account

One account is for one person, and each person may hold only one account. Give accurate information about who you are, who you work for and what you do. Keep your sign-in secure and do not share it or let anyone else use your account. Tell us at hello@riaascent.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under it.

4. Claiming, linking or creating an organization

You may claim, link to, or create an organization only if you work for it or are entitled to represent it. An owner claim is for people listed on the firm's Schedule A with 5% or more ownership. Do not create an organization under the name of a firm, company or person you do not represent, and do not choose a role you do not hold.

Where we have not confirmed your connection to an organization, we show it as self-described. A verified status means only that a claim passed our checks. It is not an endorsement, a certification or a recommendation. We may review, relabel, decline or remove any claim, link or organization at any time.

5. What you enter

You may enter only firm information you have the right to share. It stays yours. You give us permission to use it to provide the service to your firm; stripped of anything that identifies your firm, to build benchmarks, trends and insights; and to match your firm with vendors, partners and acquirers, sharing anything that identifies it only if you choose — as described in How we use your data. Enter it accurately to the best of your knowledge.

6. Your permission to use RIA Ascent

While you follow these terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use RIA Ascent through its normal interface, one lookup at a time, for your own business, professional or research purposes. You may quote a small amount of what you find in your own work, with credit to RIA Ascent, as long as it does not substitute for the service.

Any other access — including automated, programmatic, bulk or resale access to our data — requires a separate written agreement with us. Ask at hello@riaascent.com.

7. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• impersonate any person or firm, or misrepresent who you are, who you work for, your role, or your connection to any firm or organization;
• give false or misleading information in your account, in a claim, or in any answer you enter;
• use someone else's account, share your own, open more than one, or open a new account after we have suspended or banned you;
• use any robot, spider, scraper, crawler, headless browser, script, AI agent or other automated means to access, search, copy or monitor RIA Ascent, unless we provide that access to you under a written agreement;
• copy, download, export or compile data from RIA Ascent in bulk or systematically — including firm profiles, people, ownership, filings, search results, scores or estimates — or use it to build or add to any database, dataset, directory, contact list or competing product;
• sell, license, publish, redistribute or otherwise make RIA Ascent data available to anyone else, beyond the limited quoting section 6 allows;
• use RIA Ascent data or content to train, fine-tune, test or supply an AI or machine-learning model or service;
• get around or interfere with any usage limit, CAPTCHA, access control or other protection, including by rotating accounts, devices or IP addresses;
• breach, probe, scan or test the security of RIA Ascent, reverse-engineer it, or disrupt it or load it beyond normal use — if you find a security problem, report it to hello@riaascent.com instead;
• frame or mirror RIA Ascent, or remove any of our notices or marks;
• present a RIAAS score, a Firm Portrait, a verified status or anything else from RIA Ascent in a false or misleading way, or suggest that we endorse, certify or recommend you or anyone else; or
• use RIA Ascent for anything unlawful, or submit unlawful, infringing or harmful content.

8. Information about people

RIA Ascent includes information about individuals — such as advisers, owners and executives — taken from public regulatory filings. Use it only for legitimate professional purposes. Do not use it to harass, stalk or threaten anyone, or to send marketing that breaks the law. RIA Ascent is not a consumer reporting agency, and you may not use it to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

9. Misuse, suspension and bans

If we believe you have broken these terms — in particular by misrepresenting yourself or a firm, or by scraping or extracting data — we may, at our discretion and without notice:

• remove or relabel a claim, link, organization or anything you entered;
• limit, suspend or close your account; and
• permanently ban you, and any account we believe is connected to you, from RIA Ascent.

A banned person may not use RIA Ascent or open a new account. We may block traffic we believe is automated or abusive, keep records of misuse, report it to the authorities where appropriate, and pursue any legal remedy available to us, including an injunction.

10. Our content

RIA Ascent, its name and marks, the RIAAS score, the Firm Portrait, our methodology, our software, and the way we select, organize and present information belong to Ascent Growth Platforms Inc. The regulatory filings we draw on are public and remain public at their source. That does not give you permission to copy them out of RIA Ascent beyond what these terms allow.

11. Estimates, not advice

RIAAS scores and Firm Portrait estimates are indicative. They are based on public filings, the information firms provide, and our methodology. They are not appraisals or fairness opinions, and nothing in RIA Ascent is legal, financial, tax, accounting or investment advice. Do not rely on them as the basis for a transaction without professional advice.

12. Third-party services

Links to other services, such as scheduling tools, go to providers we do not control, and their own terms apply.

13. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, or always available.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you have paid nothing.

15. Ending your use

You may stop using RIA Ascent and ask us to close your account at any time by emailing hello@riaascent.com. We may suspend, close or ban an account as section 9 describes. Sections 7 through 10, 13, 14 and 17 continue to apply after your account ends.

16. Changes

We will post changes here with a new effective date, and tell you about any material change.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by Delaware law, and Delaware courts have jurisdiction.
